WaffleQuest & The Future

Soooo...Where's WaffleQuest?

Well, it was supposed to release at the end of January 2024. However the absolute worst thing happened.

The game files got corrupted right before I finished the game. I literally can't open the project anymore, no matter how hard I try.

What Does This Mean For The Future?

As for the future, I'm remaking the entire game from scratch, with better graphics, gameplay, balancing, new mechanics, etc. Not everything is done yet, obviously. I've finished the Prologue and I'm about halfway finished with Chapter 1.

I've also coded in a Debug Menu, so that'll make testing things for me and the (few) testers a lot easier.

I've attached screenshots of the brand new "remake" if that's what you want to call it. I'm going to work on this version way more frequently to avoid The Great WaffleQuest Procrastination of 2024 again.

When Will The Game Actually Release?

I can't say for certain, but at least another year or so. I don't really set release dates on my projects since I can never follow them and they make me SUUUUPER anxious. The "end of January 2024" release date I set for the original WaffleQuest I didn't really follow too well anyways.

There was so much done during crunch time and the midpoint of the final chapter felt subpar and lacking. I'll always have memories of working on that old version, it was my first big project ever, but that doesn't mean I'll look at it fondly.

This new version should hopefully rework a lot of things that me and testers found annoying. (The King Snake fight was a great example.)
